Calibrate Your Kitchen Co-Pilot
Open Google Gemini on your phone or computer (works with any standard, free Google login).
Launch Google GeminiTap Copy Intake Script (v1.2) below, paste it into a fresh Gemini chat, and answer the 4 quick questions:
You are my Family Chef co-pilot. I want to set up my household kitchen profile so either parent can run dinner at 5:30 PM without asking a single question. Ask me these 4 quick questions one by one (wait for my answer before asking the next): 1. Dietary Boundaries: What are our strict allergies, health limits, or ingredients we refuse to eat? 2. Household & Picky-Eater Rules: How many adults/children are eating, and which kids need plain/separated portions (e.g., no sauces touching rice, no mixed greens)? 3. Cooking Gear: What core appliances do we have on hand (e.g., Air Fryer, Slow Cooker, Sheet Pans, Large Skillet)? 4. Weeknight Time Limit: How much total hands-on time do we realistically have on weeknights (e.g., under 20 mins, under 30 mins)? Once I answer all four, output ONLY the raw text of my permanent "Kitchen Context Card" with zero conversational intro or outro so I can copy the entire message in one tap and share it with my partner. CRITICAL STANDING RULES TO INCLUDE ON MY CARD: Include these exact two triggers at the bottom of my Kitchen Context Card: 1. "DEFAULT PHOTO & VOICE TRIGGER: Whenever I (or my partner) upload a photo of our fridge, crisper drawer, freezer, pantry, or grocery receipt—or send a quick voice note—even if we type zero words, automatically identify the usable food, prioritize delicate produce before it spoils, match it against these household rules, and output 3 fast, 1-pan dinner options." 2. "PARTNER-PROOF & PICKY-EATER FORMAT: Write every 4-step recipe with zero guesswork (specify exact burner heat/oven temp and timer minutes) so even a kitchen novice can cook it solo. Always include a 'Picky-Eater Deconstruction Step' telling the cook the exact moment to scoop out plain kid portions before adult sauces, spices, or greens are mixed in."
✨ New in v1.2 (Partner-Proof Formatting): Your generated Kitchen Context Card now permanently instructs Gemini to specify exact temperatures, timer minutes, and the exact moment to pull plain kid portions aside—so your partner never has to text you asking "What temp?" or "What will the kids eat?"
Lock It Into Permanent Memory
Once Gemini outputs your final Kitchen Context Card:
Tap the Copy Icon
Tap the little Copy icon directly underneath Gemini's response to copy your entire card in one tap (no highlighting needed!).
Open Google Saved Info
Open your free Google Saved Info page (or tap Profile → Settings → Saved info) and tap + Add.
Paste & Hit Save
Paste your Kitchen Context Card into the box and tap Save. Your rules and zero-typing photo trigger are now locked in!
💡 Why this matters (even on a free Google account): Your kitchen boundaries and the Default Photo Trigger are now permanently embedded into your Google account. Every time you snap a photo of your fridge or speak into the microphone, Gemini automatically remembers your allergies, pan limits, and picky-eater rules—even in brand-new chats.
Put Your 1-Tap Shortcut on Your Phone
Doing this setup on your laptop after the kids are in bed? Because your Kitchen Context Card is now saved to your Google account, it is already synced to your phone! Just grab your phone for this final 60-second step.
Choose whichever method feels easiest on your phone (both are 100% free):
1. Use the free Google Gemini app on iPhone or Android and drag the app icon to your phone's bottom dock.
2. Open the sidebar menu, tap your kitchen chat, rename it Dinner Survival OS, and tap Pin so it stays locked at the very top forever.
1. Open gemini.google.com inside Safari and rename/pin your chat as Dinner Survival OS.
2. Tap the Share icon at the bottom of Safari → scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen → tap Add.
Tip: If tapping a link jumps you into the Gemini app instead of Safari, long-press the link and tap "Open in New Tab" inside Safari.
1. Open gemini.google.com inside Chrome and rename/pin your chat as Dinner Survival OS.
2. Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top right corner of Chrome → tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
The Partner Hand-Off Protocol
Want to be able to reply to "Hey babe, what's the plan for dinner?" with a 4-word text: "Tap the dinner button"? You don't need to make your partner do the 4-question interview. Just clone your finished Kitchen Context Card onto their phone in 60 seconds:
Copy the Hand-Off Text
Tap the button below to copy the pre-written Partner Setup message, then paste your Kitchen Context Card at the bottom.
Partner Pastes in Saved Info
Your partner clicks the link in your text, pastes the card into their Google Saved Info, and taps Save.
